Perfect for an outside feeder. In our old feeder, his food would get wet and become a soggy mess. With this one, the food is protected from the rain by the gray panel on the front of the feeder. The dog pushes the panel open with his nose. We hung it from a wood bar to make it the right height for him (he's a St. Bernard mix); the feeder has mounting holes in the back. I had to show him that his food was behind the panel (I showed him a treat and then put it in the feeder) but he caught on pretty quickly. He looks very proud of himself when he pushes it open!
The reserve chamber is fairly large so I don't have to refill it very often.
