My cat used it the first day, a very smart cat who has not discovered the inner workings. Although assembly is easy, it is easy to start off on the wrong page. If you get started on page 7, all is easy, if not it may take a bit longer. It is solidly built, although I added extra support to ensure my 15 pound cat could not tip it over.
