I have been using this feeder for a few weeks now and I no longer have to come downstairs in the early morning to feed my cat. The timer is accurate - I took the advice of someone else, and only turn it clockwise and taped down the battery. My cat is very food driven and she cannot open the feeder, and shes no dummy. In order to open it, the cat (or dog) has to also pull off the timer. Since her feeder is on tile in the kitchen, I taped it down on the underside so she cant push the whole thing around the floor.
