I've had a LOT of fountains for my cats over the last 30 years. Mostly table-top fountains meant to be decorative rather than for cats to drink from. Some they liked, some they ignored. I read reviews of this one (here and elsewhere) and most were positive but some described worrisome problems. I took a chance anyway and put down the big bucks to buy it. The cats like it, drink from it all the time. It doesn't need cleaning as often as most others I've tried. It's not annoyingly loud, although it does add a very low background hum to the room it's in. The reason I don't give it 5 stars: Once in a great while a plastic part starts to rattle softly and you have to press on this part or that to quiet it, but it behaves then. The water reservoir works well, and the water stream flow is adjustable so you can control noise level. Filters are reusable a few times.
