Over the years, we've adopted a Great Pyrenees and a Saint Bernard from animal rescue organizations. Both girls are wonderful, loving pets; and our lives are enriched because they're a part of our family.
I'd read about stomach bloat in large breed dogs, and our vet recommended their food dishes should be kept at shoulder height to stop them from raising & lowering their heads while eating. When we fed her from a dish on the floor, our pyrenees would often throw up after she ate; but her episodes have been greatly reduced since we started using the elevated feeder.
My only complaint? I wish the stainless steel dishes had a flat bottom instead of a tapered one. Our girls drink a ton of water, & it seems like a flat dish would be able to hold more than these rounded ones.
Also, buy yourself a big bag of sand or kitty litter and a funnel, to fill the hollow legs. They'll be much steadier than leaving them empty; and who wants to fill them with water & add bleach to stop mold growth?!?
