I had read previous reviews about how lite this dish was but I tried it anyway. I did have to condition my two dogs (English Setters) to get used to it. Started by keeping my foot on the side of the dish to keep it from sliding.... and if they got frustrated trying to pull the food out of the dish would move it around with my finger and try to make it a game. Over time I slowly held the dish less and less and they had to adapt and not go so hard at the food that the dish would move. Now I'm not sure if being so lite weight is part of the design or just seems to work out well for making them slow down.
