We bought this glass water bottle for our guinea pigs because we want to limit their exposure to plastic and we needed something easier to clean. This bottle cleans up much easier than their old plastic ones and the water seems fresher. It's our one guinea pig's favorite water bottle! If he has a choice, he will drink from this one more than any other bottle we give him. There's a little green plastic turtle that floats to show the water level. The guinea pig loves to watch the turtle while he's drinking, and we love to watch the guinea pig watch the turtle!
My only complaint with this bottle is that it's hard to attach the cap and get a good vacuum seal. We've learned to screw the cap on very, very tightly and flip the bottle up and down a couple of times to create the right vacuum that let's the water flow easily when the animal is drinking. Unfortunately the very tightly cranked cap means it's very hard to unscrew. If you have any strength or dexterity limitations in your hands, I would not recommend this bottle. Or if there are multiple people with various levels of experience or attention to detail (like children or pet sitters) who will be changing the bottle, I wouldn't recommend it.
