We have guinea hens and I was tired of carting their metal water can into the house to defrost it twice a day during the winter. I went with this heater that you set the fount on top of. I was worried at first about the label which warned the top got hot. Would it burn the guineas or ignite the straw? Actually the top is barely warm, just enough to keep the water fount from freezing. The cord is a little short, but I use a strong extension cord.
